Our Story

Since October 2019, Oscar has grown from its Danish roots to a transatlantic car rental marketplace. After launching operations in Spain and the Netherlands in 2021 and 2022, respectively, and expanding to Germany and Belgium by February 2023, Oscar proudly manages over 5,000 vehicles across more than 500 locations, serving over 200,000 customers. Since early 2025, we are also active in Wisconsin, USA.

This impressive expansion is driven by our dedicated team of over 80 employees. Continuously growing, we're actively forging new partnerships with local workshops, car dealers, and leasing companies across our operational areas to keep up with the increasing demand.

Oscar and local businesses

Oscar Car Rental functions as a marketplace, linking customers to independently operated rental locations and earning a fee from the transactions. We manage marketing, software, and customer support, while our partners handle the vehicles.

Our diverse rental options include cars, vans, trucks, minibuses, and specialty vehicles like campers and trailers. Although rental agreements are between the customer and the rental location, Oscar is always available to support and address any concerns.

Renowned in the European startup scene for founding Nordic Oil, Nordic Cosmetics, and Sundt Nutrition, Christian and Dannie now focus solely on Oscar Car Rental, entrusting their other brands to capable colleagues to drive Oscar's continued growth and success.

Christian Pallesen

CEO & Co-Founder

Christian envisioned a business benefiting both entrepreneurs and consumers with its simple, transparent pricing model. Focused on global expansion, he dedicates his efforts to growing the rental fleet and location network, aiming to create value for everyone in the car rental process.

Dannie Hansen

Co-Founder

Dannie has been motivated by a customer-first approach, aiming to offer a cost-effective, transparent alternative in the car rental industry. Known as a marketing guru, he focuses on innovative strategies that benefit customers, placing their satisfaction at the core of Oscar Car Rental's decisions and policies.

Achievements

In 2021, Oscar Car Rental was named by the Danish Chamber of Commerce as Denmark’s best new e-commerce company. In 2022, we became the first and only company to win this prize two years in a row. We should all be very proud of these awards as well as the words we got along the way.
